The charity works to provide schooling, food and shelter for children living on the streets. It aims to support the families who have 'sold' the children because of an inability to provide home and food for the child. It is doing some interesting and innovative work in Vietnam.
Phil participated in fund-raising for Operation Smile the month before he passed away. The Trust has contributed for additional operations in Hanoi.
European Commission Street Children Project
Through Binh, we became aware of this project. We attended the Sixth Kilbrandon Lecture at Glasgow University in November 2007. The speaker was Bjorn Westlund Cronstedt who spoke on 'Children in Conflict with the Law'. Binh had met Mr Cronstedt through her work in Hanoi prior to coming to Glasgow.
This was Phil's secondary school. It was here that he passed a happy 6 years of learning and got the 'bug' for economics. This led him to the London School of Economics, Oxford University (Magdalen College) and eventually to the World Bank.
This is a charities aid site that helps US taxpayers donate to charities of their choice and those charities to deal with the US documentation required by the Internal Revenue Service.
